The Law Society currently administers a scheme known as ‘Defence Assist’ under which members facing disciplinary proceedings may seek legal assistance on disciplinary proceedings from fellow volunteer members either on a pro bono or ad honorarium basis. To encourage members of the Bar to volunteer to defend fellow members in disciplinary proceedings or otherwise render legal advice either on a pro bono or an ad honorarium basis, the Law Society will be holding a lunch talk to recruit volunteer lawyers. At the talk, Mr Wong Meng Meng, SC from Wongpartnership LLP and Mr Gregory Vijayendran from Rajah & Tann LLP will be speaking on Disciplinary proceedings under section 85 of the Legal Profession Act.
