Event Outline

For many, success as a lawyer means getting that corner office in a law firm at Raffles Place and the respect that comes with the territory. But some have been there, done that, and more. Ms Indranee Rajah became a partner at Drew & Napier LLC in 2001 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003. While holding that coveted corner office at Drew & Napier, she also contributed to public service as Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC since 2001 and served as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2006 to 2011. In 2013, she gave up her practice at Drew & Napier to become Senior Minister of State for Law and Education. Moving from legislature to the executive, she now guides policy that will shape the legal industry in years to come and educates a younger generation about proper grammar (“Excuse my bad, it’s a grammar twerk”, Today, 26 October 2013).    There is a wider legal environment and eco-system beyond practice at a law firm, and a career in law could easily lead to other just as meaningful paths. At this forum, we ask Ms Indranee Rajah, to speak to young professionals in their 20s and 30s seeking to define themselves and their legal careers. To share her experience both in practice, as well as a politician and a policy maker. To give us some anecdotes about what motivates her, how she found success and pointers that have served her well wherever she turned. In short, to tell us what it is like Being Indranee Rajah.
