In this lecture, Professor Calboli will summarize the most relevant updates and developments on intellectual property (IP) law in the United States in 2017. As in previous years, 2017 saw many important developments in several areas of patent, trademark, and copyright law. These developments relate to important issues such as the exhaustion of patent rights, freedom of expression in trademark law, copyrightable subject matter and the concept of authorship.
