This module explores the field of artificial intelligence and law from a technological starting point. Aim to equip participants with a nuanced understanding of key legal issues raised by AI grounded on a clear, hype-free picture of what the technology is (and isn’t). The session will begin by carefully defining “AI” before considering three specific, important questions. Should AI have legal personality? Who is and should be liable for AI-related harms? Finally, when are algorithms biased?
