Event Outline

AI is transforming exchange-based financial markets through autonomous algorithmic trading. However, AI systems may learn harmful behaviours such as collusion, spoofing and manipulation, threatening market integrity. This paper argues Australian law faces limits in detecting misconduct, attributing liability and proving harm. It proposes a certification regime requiring testing, explainability and ongoing monitoring to strengthen regulatory oversight in an AI-driven market.
