This event is organised by National University of Singapore, Centre for International Law. The entry into force of the BBNJ Agreement introduces new obligations on area-based management tools and environmental impact assessments for activities in areas beyond national jurisdiction. This seminar examines how the BBNJ framework may influence IMO measures, including MARPOL special areas and PSSAs, and considers implications for cumulative impacts, precaution, emerging shipping pressures, and institutional coordination.
