Event Outline

The lecture contrasts 3 capitalism frameworks: Friedmanesque capitalism, which favours shareholder-profit maximisation and a limited role for government; managerial stakeholderism, which relies on corporate leaders’ discretion to serve stakeholders; and democratic capitalism, which addresses corporate externalities through governmental rules and limits corporate leaders’ ability to obstruct such interventions. The lecture examines how each framework affects citizens, investors, and policymakers.
