This event is organised by Attorney-General’s Chambers. The UN Charter celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2025, amidst what some have described as a crisis of multilateralism. The UN is facing cost cutting issues, slow movement in multilateral treaty negotiations, and challenges in resolving intractable armed conflicts. And yet, there have also been triumphs – the BBNJ Agreement came into force in 2026, and the International Court of Justice has been more active than ever, with more cases on its docket than at any other time in its history.
