Event Outline

As Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) adopt AI for tasks traditionally handled by crews, questions arise over liability when AI causes cargo damage. While claims will usually target carriers, cargo owners and insurers may also pursue AI producers. This seminar argues that existing English negligence law can address AI-related issues, including defect, evidence, causation and remoteness, without new liability rules, and examines implications for insurers and contractual risk allocation.
