Event Outline

The Hague Rules (1924), the first international framework governing shipper-carrier relations, addressed key issues already reflected in laws such as the US Harter Act and legislation in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Despite later amendments (the Hague-Visby Rules and SDR Protocol) and newer conventions (Hamburg and Rotterdam Rules), they remain dominant in international carriage. This lecture examines their enduring relevance, judicial interpretation, challenges, and adaptation to new technologies.
