Event Outline

Family violence sits astride two bodies of law with very different objects: the protective, forward-looking family law regime and the retrospective, punitive criminal law. This seminar reframes family violence as a hybrid legal problem and maps the friction points between the two regimes – thresholds for intervention, information-sharing, reporting duties and parallel proceedings. It explores how the two systems can work together to achieve balanced outcomes.
